2019 is the year with the highest CO2 emissions from vehicles in Europe since 2014

CO2 emissions from combustion motor vehicles in Europe have increased for the third consecutive year , exceeding 2015.

Given that electric vehicles are barely 6% of the total, this is not succeeding, for the moment, in reversing the strong trend.

CO2 and cars

According to the study published by the mobility consultancy JATO Dynamics, these are the countries that pollute the most and least with their vehicles:

  • The most : Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Hugria and the United Kingdom.
  • The least : Norway, Holland, Portugal, Finland and Denmark.

Regarding the most polluting car models:

  • Brands that reduced their emissions : Toyota, Citroen, Opel and BMW.
  • Brands that increased their emissions : Suzuki, Dacia, Ford, Fiat and Audi.
