In recognition of the work of the medical community around the world in the fight against COVID-19 , this plaque has been affixed to the Perseverance rover that NASA will launch to Mars on July 20.
The mission installed a plate on the left side of the mobile chassis, between the middle and rear wheels.

The graphic on the 8-by-13-centimeter aluminum plate represents the Earth, supported by the medical community, represented by the ancient symbol of the entwined serpent rod.
A line representing the trajectory of a spacecraft rises from central Florida toward Mars, represented as a small dot in the background.
According to Matt Wallace , Deputy Director of Perseverance projects at JPL:
We wanted to show our appreciation for those who have put their personal well-being on the line for the good of others. It is our hope that when future generations travel to Mars and meet our rover, they will be reminded that there were such people on Earth in 2020.
