As explained by the general director of MiG Corporation, Ilya Tarasenko , within the framework of the Army-2017 expo at the Kubinka airfield, near Moscow:
Development is in the stage of finalizing the appearance of the aircraft. It will be a gradual transition from MiG-31 to PAK DA.
The new aircraft should be able to fly at speeds at least four times faster than the speed of sound . According to the developers, it will have certain elements of artificial intelligence incorporated, because flying at those speeds, the human brain is not capable of thinking so fast. The plane could also be equipped with laser weapons, since Russia has prototypes of such weapons.
