A tiny point
We are contemplating with the naked eye only about 2,500 stars, of the 300,000 million that populate our Milky Way, and that there are perhaps another 100,000 million galaxies in the Universe , beyond our sight.
As Carl Sagan says in Cosmos , a handful of sand contains about 10,000 grains, which is already a higher number than the number of stars that you can see with the naked eye on a clear night, but in total number of stars it not only exceeds the grains of that handful of sand, but all the grains of sand on all the beaches in our world.
